Dr. Keith volunteers at the Habitat for Humanity building homes

On Saturday, November 14th, Dr. Keith volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity build on Hainford St. in Scarborough.

60 homes are in their final phase of construction, and Dr. Keith had an opportunity to lay down laminate flooring on the first floor of one house.  Other crew members that day performed jobs such as painting, trim work and subfloor preparation.  The deadline for this site development is December 2009 and there is still much work to be completed!  If you are interested in volunteering your time and hands, go to their website for more info: http://www.torontohabitat.on.ca/web/help_out.aspx

No experience is necessary as there is something for everyone if you are willing to learn and enjoy working with others. Volunteers are organized into small groups (i.e. Crews), led by Crew Leaders who are volunteers with construction knowledge and experience.  Keep in mind that the most important thing is a positive attitude, enthusiasm, flexibility and a sense of humour.  Whatever the activity may be, it is essential to the success of the build. Each piece fits together to ensure the final outcome is an amazing one.
