Earth Day 2009 Tree Planting in Richmond Hill

In continuing support of our community and the environment, Dr. Keith helped out on Earth Day, April 22nd, with the tree planting efforts of the Richmond Hill Natural Heritage Section.

500 new trees were planted at Newberry Park in the Yonge & Elgin Mills neighbourhood which is a part of the Rouge Watershed!

In addition to Dr. Keith, about 200 elementary students from Toronto Montessori School, Langstaff Public School and HG Bernard Public School were in attendance.  Richmond Hill Mayor Dave Barrow and Town Councillors Vito Spatafora, Greg Beros and Godwin Chan were there at 10 am to kick-off the event.

If you missed it this time, there are other upcoming tree planting events for the month of May…for more information go to:http://www.richmondhill.ca/documents/earth_day_poster.pdf or contact the Natural Heritage section at: (888)684-8646
