Investigative Tests

Investigative Tests - Dr. Misa Kawasaki, ND & Dr. Mary Saad, ND

Our NDs use a variety of investigative tests in her practice to obtain more information about your health concerns. These are not meant to provide a diagnosis, but rather, offer clues as to the cause of your symptoms.

Investigative tests are billed separately and do not include the cost of the consultation to review results. Contact your insurance company to inquire if your extended health benefits plan covers the cost of tests ordered by Naturopathic Doctors.

IgG Food Sensitivity Test

Food sensitivities often develop over many months and are thought to be triggered by the production of IgG antibodies in the immune system, causing a level of inflammation in the body that can persist for a long time.

Symptoms that may be related to food sensitivities include:

  • Digestive - abdominal pain, gas, bloating, diarrhea

  • Skin - unexplained rashes, redness, itching, eczema symptoms

  • Pain - joints pain, muscle stiffness, migraine headaches

  • Brain - mood disturbances, behavioural issues

  • Lungs - chronic bronchitis and asthma symptoms

  • Difficulty losing weight

Identifying which foods you may have a sensitivity to is difficult, because the body can have a reaction and produce symptoms in just a few hours, or it can take a few days. The IgG Food Sensitivity Test (FST) may help you make it easier to identify these foods through a simple blood test.

Are you interested in the IgG Food Sensitivity Test? Here are the steps you will need to follow:

  1. Book an initial consultation (if you are a new patient) or a follow-up appointment (existing patients) with Dr. Misa or Dr. Mary..

  2. We will provide you with a requisition to take to any Lifelabs location for the blood draw (Lifelabs will send your sample to Rocky Mountain Analytical for testing).

  3. Click here for Lifelabs' procedures for blood draws. This test is not fasting, but you do have to eat the foods on the testing list 2-3 times within a 3-week time frame before the test.

  4. You will be notified by email or phone once we receive your results (approx. 7-10 days) to book a follow-up naturopathic appointment to review your report and treatment recommendations. Please note that the test is billed separately, and does not include the cost of this follow-up appointment.

*Only consultations with our NDs are billed as Naturopathic Visits. Please check with your insurance company to verify if they cover lab tests ordered by Naturopathic Doctors.
